I was in one of my poker forums today and found this post and thought I would bring it in here to tell everyone. It's about Online Gambling. Admin if you object to any part of this you can remove the parts you don't want.

Quote:
Today we heard powerful testimony from Reps. Barney Frank (D-Mass.) and Jim McDermott (D-Wash.) during a hearing on Internet gambling before the House Ways and Means Committee. Frank and McDermott both made the case for regulating Internet gambling by reiterating the need for increased consumer safeguards and highlighting the additional $42 billion in federal revenue and 32,000 jobs which would be gained in a regulated environment.

For more information on the hearing, please visit our website or use the Twitter hashtag #gamblinghearing for a summary of our live updates from the hearing.

Thanks,

I think that the biggest problem related to the issue is that there are some people in "power" out there who think that it is their job to legislate morality and in many many cases it is not. What may not be right for them does not mean that it is not right for others. I mean I live in an area of the country where some look at you like such a heathen if you order a drink in oublic on a Sunday, and it was not until very recently that we could buy alcohol at all on a Sunday to begin with! So this is the kind of mindset that we are up against in this battle.

Man do I hear that one. The teatotallers as they call them here are very strong. There are still areas of our city that are "dry" because the vote against any restaurant serving alcohol or even putting a bar in that area is soooooo strong that no one can break through and get it changed.
